Ditch the Gatorade!

You see Gatorade everywhere: in gym vending machines, on the soccer and football fields, and everywhere people are getting fit. We have been led to believe that it is good for us, but the reality is that it is filled with chemically-processed refined sugars (¼ cup in a single serving), artificial dyes, flavors and preservatives. No, thank you!

In my latest Fit Foodie Snippet, I will show you how easy it is replenish your electrolytes. Naturally.

Fit Foodie Snippet: 

Healthy-Ade
Skip the vending machine and try this healthy alternative after your next workout. Serves 2-4

Ingredients

  • 2 cups coconut water
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp Himalayan or kosher salt

Directions
Combine ingredients in a pitcher. Serve over ice.


Green DrinkHere is another drink that will naturally replenish your electrolytes and give you a nutritional boost, too! The banana provides a good source of potassium and magnesium. Almonds are extremely rich in magnesium and potassium. Superstar kale is also an excellent source of magnesium and calcium.

Banana-Almond-Kale Drink

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 1 cup kale

Mix in a blender and hydrate!
